Scott for Sacramento City Council

A Neighbor. A Voice. A Leader.

Platform

Sacramento deserves more than promises—it deserves action. Scott Lau is not a career politician. He’s a neighbor who knows firsthand what our community needs because he lives it every day. Scott believes in fixing the basics, putting people first, and making our city work for everyone—not just the few.

👮‍♂️ Smarter Public Safety

Public safety is about more than police—it’s also about mental health, substance abuse services, and neighbors looking out for one another. I’ll invest in solutions that actually reduce crime and improve lives.

Keeping our neighborhoods safe takes more than just police. It means helping people before problems get worse—like providing mental health care, addiction services, and support for young people.

I’ll push for more resources that actually prevent crime, not just respond to it. That means clean and safe public spaces with better lighting, neighbors looking out for each other, and first responders trained to handle all kinds of emergencies—not just criminal ones.

We deserve safety that works for everyone, not just more sirens. Let’s build safer communities by solving problems at the root.

🏡 Affordable Housing

Housing shouldn’t just be for investors and developers—it should be for people who live and work here.

In our district, families are being priced out while new buildings go up that most people can’t afford. We need to stop zoning and permitting that favors luxury apartments and start building homes that teachers, nurses, first responders, and everyday workers can actually live in.

I want to fix our zoning rules so we can build more types of homes—like duplexes, triplexes, and small apartment buildings—that fit real people’s needs. I also want to support housing near bus stops, schools, and jobs so people don’t have to drive so far just to live somewhere decent.

🔧 Fix Our Streets

We all know which roads in our neighborhood need help—and we’re tired of being ignored.

Let’s repave roads, repaint lane striping, improve sidewalks and drainage, and install better lighting.

But fixing our streets means more than just smoother asphalt. We need clearly marked crosswalks, safer intersections, and better traffic-calming measures to protect our kids, seniors, and neighbors on foot. Every neighborhood deserves to feel safe—whether you’re behind the wheel or crossing the street.

🛍️ Small Businesses

Our neighborhoods should be full of life—not empty storefronts. Local shops, mom-and-pop businesses, and small service providers are the heart of our community. But too many of them are struggling to stay open or come back after hard times.

I’ll fight to bring real support to small businesses with things like lower permit fees, easier access to city help, cleaner streets, and programs that actually help businesses grow—not just talk. That means focusing on local corridors like Freeport Blvd, South Land Park, and Meadowview where the city hasn’t shown up enough.

When we support local businesses, we create jobs, keep dollars in the neighborhood, and make our communities stronger and more connected. Let’s bring back the corner stores, family restaurants, and everyday shops that make our neighborhoods feel like home.

💡 Update Our Neighborhood

It’s more than fixing potholes—we need to take care of the things that help our neighborhoods work and feel safe.

We need brighter streetlights so people feel safer at night. We need to fix old sewer and drainage pipes so streets don’t flood when it rains. We need faster and more reliable internet so kids can do their homework and people can work from home.

We need to keep our parks and public spaces clean and safe, so families have good places to relax, play, and come together.

Every neighborhood in Sacramento deserves these basic things—not just the ones that get the most attention. I’ll make sure we invest in the areas that need it most.
