A Neighbor. A Voice. A Leader.

about Scott
Meet Scott
Scott Lau is the son of immigrants and a proud product of Sacramento’s District 7. Raised by a restaurant waiter and a postal worker, Scott attended local public schools like Sutterville Elementary and C.K. McClatchy High School, growing up in working-class neighborhoods that often chased “better schools” in “better zip codes.”
His journey into public life began a decade ago with a simple frustration: a road construction project delayed his commute by 30 minutes, only to result in a confusing and unsafe bike lane redesign. When no one from the city responded to his concerns, Scott decided to become the kind of planner who would.
That frustration drove him from being a college dropout to graduating with honors in Urban Planning from Arizona State University. Today, he’s running for City Council to take on the same leadership that ignored his neighborhood and bring real, accountable representation to the families of District 7.
Platform Issues
👮♂️ Smarter Public Safety
Public safety is about more than police—it’s also about mental health, substance abuse services, and neighbors looking out for one another.
🏡 Affordable Housing
Housing shouldn’t just be for investors and developers—it should be for people who live and work here.
🛍️ Small Businesses
Our neighborhoods should be full of life—not empty storefronts. Local shops, mom-and-pop businesses, and small service providers are the heart of our community.
🔧 Fix Our Streets
We all know which roads in our neighborhood need help—and we’re tired of being ignored.
💡 Update Our Neighborhood
It’s more than fixing potholes—we need to take care of the things that help our neighborhoods work and feel safe.
